Joshua Scheid
Joshua Scheid is a vocalist and composer specializing in opera, art song, and chamber music—with particular emphasis on new and experimental works. Selected operatic roles include Blitch (Susannah), Escamillo (Carmen), and Leporello (Don Giovanni) as well as premiering the role of Smedley Buttler (War is a Racket) and several roles in the Peabody Opera Etudes project. This season, Joshua will be premiering the roles of Mr. Darcy (Pride and Prejudice) and Cameron (The Champion). He has performed roles with NEMPAC Opera Project, Peabody Opera Theatre, Boston Conservatory Opera, and Opera in the Ozarks. He has given chamber music and solo performances with the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Boston Conservatory New Music Festival, Disquiet Music Ensemble, Boston Conservatory Contemporary Music Ensemble, and Mocrep. He is an active recitalist and improviser, as well as an educator of voice, music and theater. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from DePaul University, a Master of Music in Contemporary Music Performance and a Professional Studies Certificate in Voice Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
